I am getting an end to end error in reported when i use hdtune or other software that reads the smart data, i did a search online and i read it is a critical error.

I did a search associated with the momentus xt and i found the problem has been reported before and some say it is cause by flashing the SD25 in windows.

Does anybody else have this problem should i be worried.

Also for some reason i cannot get hdtune pro triel to run even though the popup says i still have 15days left???

    Thanks for any help.

Perhaps use the other method to flash S25?

I used the Windows one and I've had no issues.

I just tried flash SD25 in dos, but i was told by the updater the drive already had HD25 installed.

I don't keep anything important on my notebook hdd, I back everything up to my external drive on a regular basis.

If all you have is one external drive, you're not doing a backup.

Also, if your XT is corrupting your data - then the backup you make from it is worth zilch too.

I would be getting a new HDD if I were in your position.

Uh, who says you need more than one external drive to backup? That's plenty. The chances of your drive and external failing simultaneously? Come on.

Getting a new HDD is premature. Contact seagate asap and see if you can get it RMA'd but they may be able to help you sort it out.

Hungry Man, you need to read more carefully.

Not only does Tinderbox not have his data on two drives - he hasn't even done a spot check on his external data integrity (I'm betting) to know he has even one good copy.

Who says a single external is not a 'backup'? Everyone who is serious about actually keeping important data (always).

Everyone who's serious about keeping important data is apparently nuts.

Hmmm, it`s getting worse , Seagate Diagnostics does not give an error , but hdtune pro, smart "end to end" value has gone from 1 to 4 in a couple of days.

I have contacted the retailer and they have said to return it, I have emailed Seagate and am waiting for them to say the hdd is faulty and need to be replaced as i said Seagate Diagnostics passes without error.

    Thanks for any help.

    John.

Well, if it passes seagate's tool it could be fine.

Hmmm , my "end to end error" is now up to 11 , but Seagate Diagnostics gives a pass on the smart and on the quick and full hdd test.

    Hello, all!

I had the same problem with my Momentus. 5 weeks old and 7 End-to-end errors. The Seatools software says that the drive is healthy. Can you be so kind to tell me what happened to your drives after this year. Did they failed, how many end-to-end errors they have? Is seatools still saying that the drive is ok? Is the performance of the drive changed?

    10x a lot!!!

Thank you very much for the response. Mine works ok, but I'm quite frustrated, that any moment it can die. That is why, I make backup every week.
Was there a difference in the behaviour of the drive while was having so many errors?

It worked fine as far as i could tell, I was just a bit worried when i saw the smart error, when i sell an hdd i always show the smart data to prove it has no bad blocks or other errors.
