    Hi,
2 days ago i took my free agent 500gb go drive out of its casing so swap it with my 250gb laptop drive.

than yesterday i accidently dropped my seagate drive.
today when i connected it with my windows laptop it was working fine.

then i connected it with a mac and the light on the drive didn't come one and it was making a beeping noise.

then i connected it back again to my windows laptop and same problem.

The light on the drive is not coming on and its making a constant beeping sound when connected to the computer and i cant feel the drive vibrate like usual.

I dont know what to do. i am clueless any suggestion??
This hard drive is not in warranty.

    please let me know asap.

    thanks.

Also i would like to add that i tried connecting my HDD to the laptop by swapping the laptop drive, i know its not gonna boot because it doesn't have a OS but its still giving me the same beeping sound.

I hear a beep than after a sec another beep than after a sec another beep.

thats the pattern it is following.

Does the hard drive spin? Or make a clicking noise when spinning? Does Mac/PC recognize the hard drive?

I think the Mac corrupted your HD.

Okay, seriously - you dropped it and you expect it to work?

I hope the data is safe somewhere else.

Try this: put the HD inside a ziplock bag - stick it inside the refridgerator for at least 4 hours.

Have your notebook/desktop system ready to go and immediately take it out of the freezer and making sure there is no condensation (you did seal it good, right) attach it to the waiting computer.

Your mission? Get the data off as fast as you can - it can/may stop at any time.

    Good luck.

(I just did this with a 1 year old seagate 500GB 3.5" HD and was able to get all the data off just quickly enough).

Well if the Mac couldn't even read it, I doubt it fubar'd his drive. Unless you opened up Disc Utility and formatted it then you're in a world of @#$%
