In upgrading RAM on desktop computers, it is usually recommended to place the biggest RAM stick in slot 1, and the smaller one in slot 2, if there are only two slots. Does the same recommendation also follow for laptops?

I am planning to upgrade a Fujitsu P7010 laptop equiped with 256Mb. I will add a 512Mb stick of the same RAM, and wonder whether I should go to the trouble of placing this in slot 1.

I put a 512MB stick in the second slot on my T41 with a 256MB stick int he first slot. Works fine.

Through the trouble? The slots are nearly touching each other, LOL.

Great to see both answers. My present Sony R505GL makes one dive under the keyboard to access the RAM and hard drive.

Where exactly does the hard drive reside in the P7010?
