I know that TOm's Hardware wasn't fond of their SLC due to its heat output and price. However I have a strange interest in these 2 SSD's as upgrades down the road. Does anyone on here own a Solidata Drive, and if so, what can you say about it?

if i get the idea to do it, they're going for my upcoming np8662 within 8 mths to a year from now.

They're $2000 each. Thats rediculous. Is there any reason why you chose these solidata's opposed to an Intel/Samsung/Indilinx drives. Those are some of the fastest drives and will cost a fraction of that drive.

I believe there is a review of some Solidata drives here. They used Jmicron controllers and should be avoided. I believe the K5/6 series is the one with Indilinx.

i'm interested just on the "?!" factor. I'm more keen to buying the next-gen mlc x25-m, or if its big enough, x25-e.

Hey, we all can giggle at the idea of the absurdly expensive, no?
