    the version I have is the T7300 2.0 Dual with 2gb ram 555-15 and 320GB 5200 HDD.

What I plan to do is first memory upgrade to 4GB by putting 444-12 GSkill, HDD 320GB 7200 Hitachi (probably) and T9500 CPU (it is Vista 32bit though but I read somewhere that it uses "missing" 500mb for some hardware built in).
I guess my questions are: since this series of Qosmio is based on Intel P965 Chipset, is it correct that I can go from 800SB (that T7300) into T9500 with 1066Mhz SB? Also: that Chipset uses SATA up to 3GB, but current drive is 1.5Gb 5200, is 3.0GB gonna work work (according to that Chipset specification it is 3.0, but I do not know whether they may be some additional laptop's limitations). Also which drive do you suggest - noise&heat are important. I usually run on a power cord so power consumption not that important.
Another question: if the chipset allows to upt up to T9500 series, can some other Toshiba or its motherboard components limit usage of higher CPUs?
Upon replace of CPU, do I have to reinstall Vista Ultimate 32bit??

    Thank you for your help!

The harddrive will work without any problems. Sata 3.0 drives are backwards compatible with SATA 150. Plus no sata harddrive on the market can even come close to maxxing out the sata 150 bus, so their is no reason to have a sata 300 bus, cause it would not be advantageous.
I would go with Hitachi for the harddrive. The 7K320's I have are quiet and fast, and Hitachi usually makes the most reliable harddrives.

After you replace the processor, you do not have to reinstall the operating system.
You only need to reinstall the OS after you change the harddrive.

I am not sure on the processor upgrade. ANDY would know for sure, he is our cpu expert.
Before upgrading your cpu, make sure that you upgrade your Bios, so that it has the greatest chance of recognizing your processor.
