I too noticed very quickly after I bought my VAIO AW series notebook that the battery life was at ~80% after unplugging the charger about an hour before, booting up the system and seeing that I had less than an hour left of battery life (brand new system/battery).

Sony does not know how to properly maintain the battery!

When I removed the battery from the notebook (after fully charging it) the charge would be much closer to 100% than if I left it installed.

I can't help you with tracking down a battery (I would only order from Sony themselves), but I can tell you that a Sony is not my first choice in my next system - specifically for this issue where they seem to intentionally kill the battery and/or battery life with no regards to users input.

    Good luck.
