If you looking for a surround system, the Altec Lansing VS3251 is very good. Sound quality is spot on, and it's a very good price. Around £50/$80.

5.1 is more than enough. 7.1 systems are generally very expensive and are not really worth the extra money you have to pay.

Just make sure you have a suitable sound card however.

Wireless speakers are fairly pricey, logitech makes a few models. As Mayz said, you might well need an external sound card, which notebook do you have?

If you can afford it, the Creative Gigaworks line is awesome.

You can use any home theater setup, not just computer speakers. Just get a sound card with an optical out and connect that to the receiver. It will be better than any pc speakers.
