AnandTech - Z68 SSD Caching with Corsair's F40 SandForce SSD
ssd caching is available on the p67 mobile chipset. has anyone tried it?
-
Never heard about the availability of it on a P67 mobile chipset.
Maybe I missed something? -
i saw it on the z68 review of anand
-
I read following in
Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 10.5.0.1027 Production Version Release Notes
6. To enable the Intel® Smart Response Technology feature, the RST 10.5.0.1034 OROM, the RST 10.5.0.1026 driver, the RST 10.5.0.1027 user interface and the Cougar Point Z68 SKU are required. -
i read it here:
AnandTech - Intel Z68 Chipset & Smart Response Technology (SSD Caching) Review
"All of the work is done entirely in Intel's RST 10.5 software, which will be made available for all 6-series chipsets but Smart Response Technology is artificially bound to Z68 alone (and some mobile chipsetsHM67, QM67)." -
If it's a software restriction only, someone will hack it.
-
that is also what im waiting for
-
The Intel RST 10.5.0.1034 Raid ROM is also involved, that means also the BIOS has to be hacked!
-
hopefully a software solution can be found to "fool" the rst into thinking its a supported chipset.
but it is available in pm67 chipsets now. -
What is available in PM67 chipset?
-
i mean hm67 chipset -ssd caching
-
AFAIK even with the HM67 chipset ssd caching isn't possible, at least at the moment!
-
well im just getting it from the anand article which states that it is supported.
-
I rely preferably on official documentation.
Maybe the chipsets for Haswell will support it.
Edit: I just saw that some Ivy Bridge chipsets will support it.
