    Hi,

i have an vaio vpccw21fx (cw series).
i want to change its HDD for a new SSD. The problem is that Sony could't tell me which SSD are compatible with my laptop.

I bought an OCZ PETROL some time ago and it's not compatible.
Anyone has positive experience with some SSD and this laptop?.

    thanks...

    Sony and compatibility don't mix.

What 'issues' did you have with the OCZ Petrol?

I have basically the same platform (Asus U30Jc) as your notebook and I have run an M4 256GB, an Intel 320 Series 160GB and am currently running a SanDisk Extreme 240GB SSD along with 8GB RAM and Windows 8 x64.

The only issues I have are related to the old platform (Arrandale) the SSD is forced to run on - if Sony doesn't white/black list any specific storage subsystem hardware - you shouldn't have any problems either.

    Hope this helps a little?

    Good luck.

thanks, the OCZ PETROL didn't appear in the bios. It wasn't recognized at all.
At that time, i asked to Sony and they told me that the PETROL wasn't compatible.

So this time i ask sony before buy it, but they told me that the SSD has to be SATA 1, but it's weird because SATA 3 is backwards compatible.

thanks again, if i buy one, i will post the result...
