Hi! I've got a Dell Latitude CPxJ with an ALPS touchpad. I'm interested in using a stylus with the touchpad so that I can input handwritten notes and achieve better and finer control with image editing programs. I researched the various touchpad technologies...many are capacitance based. so I figured that any conductor(metal/graphite) should be able to replace my finger as the touching device. However this didn't work.
Can somebody please help me on this? Also, is there any other type of stylus which would work with the laptop's touchpad?

I've never seen a stylus alternative, that's not to say it's not out there though. However, the accuracy will be a problem. It doesn't work like a touchscreen, so drawing and such isn't going to happen with much accuracy, even if you find an input mechanism.

wouldn't something like a wacom tablet do this? granted, that's additional hardware (and kinda pricey), but it'd work. or logitech has that pen that you write on special paper with and it stores your handwritten data and you can upload it via usb.
