What is the difference between the t2450 and t7100. Would the t7100 be alot faster, enough to justify a boost in my price by around 300 dollars for otherwise similar laptops? (im debating betwenn the Sony Vaio CR and the Vaio N Series). The most the laptop would have to do is some light gaming if that since I will be getting a PS3. Would I ever notice the difference between the two processors?

I can tell you right off the bat that the T7100 isn't worth $300 more.
The T2450 is a Core Duo and the T7100 is a Core 2 Duo. The Core 2 Duo is more efficient and gets more done per clock cycle. It is also 64-bit.
I would just get the T2450 though. For your needs you probably wouldn't notice the difference. -

get a Core 2 Duo since they support 64-bit and hence are future-proof.
On the other hand, i've heard reports (rumours?) that Core Duo is also 64-bit capable (in terms of hardware; meaning, its registers can handle 64-bit instructions) but they've been "disabled". Although, Intel actively denies 64-bit capability for Core Duo, some Apple macbooks prove otherwise.
Fact or Fiction?
