yeah go with it, a bit quicker(not much) but alot lower power consumption.

The T8100 is just a superior product, and it also has mor L2 cache(look it up on wiki) which just makes it faster.

    Core 2 Duo T7250 2000 2048 800
    Core 2 Duo T8100 2100 3072 800

Definitely worthwhile at 40 euro (maybe 50 dollars). Penryn architecture is innately superior to Merom architecture clock for clock (not to mention more power efficient) and here you're getting an extra 100MHz and an extra 1MB cache.

The Penryn processor actually has less cache. Actually, it's kind of an in-between, since entry-Core2 CPUs have a 2MB cache and performance-oriented ones have a 4MB L2.

That said, it is still 5-15% faster than a 4MB L2 Merom-core Core 2 Duo, depending on the task. It supports SSE4 instructions, making it much faster for any image manipulation/video editing/content creation programs that support this instruction set. And it adds an additional sleep state above and beyond the Merom-core processors --a laptop with a Penryn CPU will generally get 10-20min more battery life than an identical unit with a Merom CPU of the same clock speed.

If you have a choice between the T7250 and a T8100, the choice is clear --the T8100 is it.

The T7250 only has a 2mb cache by the way, it is the T7300 with the 4mb cache, but those have become few and far between.
