so im in the middle of the class

it says i have 46min power left then suddenly it starts saying im running out of battery!

my laptop is less than a year old , when i bought it i had it plugged in with the battery for about a week and i noticed 8% battery worn.

since then everytime im using the AC power i take the battery out but today i noticed i have 34% battery worn !!

this is huge to me ...

i dunno how to take care of my battery !!!

    any help?

well it is a dell you sure it isn't a count down till it explodes? ;) But more then likely just a bad battery even dell I think covers them for a year and it might be in that little recall they are doing to boot.

since most laptop batteries are lithium ion batteries and lithium ion battery's life shortens even without use that might be why your battery is dying

the battery capacty shortens about 20% every year (if you always charge it to 100% full) if your battery is at 25 degree C

the hotter your laptop runs means hotter battery and therefore faster chemical reactions leading to more battery capacity shortening

if you charge your battery and put it in the fridge when using AC power, it would help lengthen battery life

just make sure your allow the battery to warm back to room temp before using it again

    should read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery

34% in less than a year is crazy. Call Dell and have a chat with them, they should be able to help you out. I thought it was odd that I had 6 and 8% wear upon first charge, after 8 months I'm at 12 and 17 percent. Seems pretty normal to me. One does seem to drain quicker, has since I got it, but normal.

    Call Dell.
