    Hi,

I bought a refurbished xbox 360. People in the xbox forum think I'm a noob because they're all believe refurbished = junk. Supposedly, the refurbished xbox is likely to still have problems that have not been fixed.

Is there a way to test my xbox before the 60 day warranty expires?

I would leave it on for extended periods, but don't leave it completely unattended. I would also invest in those 360 coolers.

The cooling systems are built really badly. Refurbished could mean that they only cleaned off the dirt from a previous user, remounted the cooling system with a copper shim, or made a crude and mostly failed attempt at the second.

I'd take it apart and check it out (if I were you)

Refurb should be fine. No RRoD at least. Refurbs get a good look over and actual testing done to ensure everything is in working order. Depending on the reason for the return, they may even replace the most known faulty parts.

If it's an old version (not the new slim one), I wouldn't worry about it. How much did you spend on it? $100? How much do you want to worry over a $100 investment?

Depends on the refurbishing company. I wouldn't trust many. Why? I've seen too many horrible RROD refurb 360's at work.

The older 360's aka pre summer 09 have the older overheating motherboards. After 09 is the revised motherboard.

Is it the motherboard for sure or the cooling system on that issue?
