    how much battery life does a 6 cell lithium ion battery have compared to a 12 cell lithium ion battery

    If the cells are of the same capacity then 6 cells is half the capacity of 12 cells.

    Number of cells mean nothing as cell comes in varies size and capacities. check the mAh (mili amp hour) or the W (watts) rating to make true comparision between the two.

    I'm sure you mean the W-hr (Watt-Hour) rating, not the Watt.
    Watt is a measurement of Power (irrelevant) and Watt-Hour is a measurement of Energy (Energy Capacity)

    mAh can be converted to W-hr if you know the voltage of the Given device.
