does a 2.2ghz core 2 duo actually mean the clock speed of the processor is 4.4ghz???
I saw on ebay some desktops advertising 12ghz processors and they were quad core![]()

No, a 2.2Ghz core 2 duo runs at 2.2Ghz. There are two cores but it doesn't mean that the clock speed of the processor should be doubled.

oh right, also on some min requirements for some games you need 2.5ghz and above... does this mean my core 2 duo won't be adequate?

hardly. I think the 2.5 ghz they are refering to is if you have a Pentium 4 or something.
A Core 2 Duo will let play any game out there and for the next few years. Remember for games, it's the Video Card you should be concerned about. They are the number one factor when evaluating a game's performance on your system.
