hello. I have a toshiba audio/usb hub that worked great with windows XP. I upgraded my computer and now I am using sony vaio SZ on Windows Vista business. Apparently the audio/usb hub is not supported by Vista, and thus I cannot connect my new computer to the hub, and thus to the 5.1 logitech speakers. I tried to search for new drivers but toshiba is not offering any new drivers for this product, and they are now making a new docking device. The dynodock which is a device that provides usb, sound and video as well. I dont care about being able to hook up my notebook to 3 video outputs, but apparently this is the only way to get a audio/usb docking device to work with vista - i.e. shell out another $160 to toshiba. Anyone know how to get the audio/usb to work with vista. I read somewhere else to download creatives external 24 bit sound device's driver (which is what the audio/usb uses) and then open the program with winzip and change a bunch of numbers and such. Then change some .inf thing. All of it was way above my head, and it looks like spending the money on another docking device is the only reasonable solution for me. Anyone have any ideas about if there is a way to get the toshiba audio/usb device to work with VISTA? Thanks.

anyone with any advice here. I am still struggling to find a way to get a docking station or some other means that allows my notebook to be hooked up to analog 5.1 speakers (which worked fine with toshibas previous docking station when i was using windows XP, but now the docking devices drivers arent compatible with Vista).

Sony Sz is the laptop and the sound card was an external device which toshiba stopped producing, which was called toshiba audio/usb device comes with an external 24 bit audio card derived from the 24 bit creative external card. The problem is that VISTA is not designed to work with external cards. Creative has a relatively new product that works via a usb port, which I ultimately plan to purchase. There are like 3 or 4 options now for connecting a vista notebook to get 3D surround sound and to provide that sound through 5.1 analog speakers.
Creative now has 2 solutions, one for expresscard and one for usb.
they just updated the expresscard so apparently it can work for either expresscard 34 or 54, according to their website. http://us.creative.com/welcome.asp
I think I am just going to get the USB one "sound blaster X-fi surround 5.1" because frankly I am totally confused about whether my sony sz notebook has expresscard or the thing that came before expresscard. I already bought the older creative expresscard device which did not work with either 34 or 54 and I couldnt get the thing to work on my notebook.
Here is the usb device http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=17751
