hey all
ive two questions not sure if they are in the correct place but anyway.
firstly my asus laptop has this auto sensor thing that adjusts the brightness of the screen depending on the lighting, the problem is its hopeless, id really like to have it set at full and leave it at that, is there anyway to turn off the auto adjust thingy or am i stuck with it.![]()
secondly my friend has a macbook and has just brought a dell lcd display, does she need any drivers to use the monitor or is it simply a plugin and use job.
thanks and sorry for the questions its my first pc and i dont have a clue what im doing. :rolleyes2:

About the Asus - ask in the Asus forum - although I suspect there should be a setting for it in some Asus utility.
I don't think Windows (Vista or XP) supports this natiely.
About the monitor - on non Mac PCs its a "plug and play job" - i.e. plug display in, finished (or TV)
I don't know how this works for Apple, but I suspect its similar - you are speaking about an external display, yes?
Plug it in and then start the computer, see what happens - it should work.
(Windows Vista allows plugging displays in "on the fly"- I don't know about Mac) -
thanks -

With a Macbook, it's actually not as simple as plug-and-play, unfortunately. I think a Dell LCD display would come with just a VGA cable The Macbook, unfortunately, doesn't have a VGA port, just a mini-DVI. You'd need a mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter to get it properly working, unfortunately
. You can probably get one at the apple store for like 20 bucks.

thanks for that, ill double check thats the case and find the appropriate cable.
cheers -
All you need to have to use your external display on a Mac is a Mini-Displayport (I'm guessing you have the new Uni-Body notebook) to either VGA or DVI depending on your monitor type. Then once you have them connected, just plug the adapter into the notebook and Viola! You now have an external display for your notebook.
two questions for you all
