Intel i7 820QM 1.73G 8M Socket PGA988 Mobile CPU Processr Q1TN ES | eBay bought this Intel i7 820QM 1.73G 8M Socket PGA988 Mobile CPU Processr Q1TN ES,I updated the bios to the latest and windows would hang even when installing would not go past the welcome screen, but strangely would load windows crated with my i3 but only in safe mode,2 others gave him negative feedback for this item but I am just over the 45 days as I hadnt bought the laptop to put it in till a few days ago. If any has any ideas as to if there is any thing else I can do and as to weather the chip is any good to resell to some one else?could it be just my bios not recognizing it?it shows up in the bios as genuine intel 000 1.7GHZ and shows 8 cores but only works in safe mode,a return to the i3 works 100%,also if someone could recomend a cpu under 200.00,thanks.

Did you try to get a refund anyway?

    Might be worth a shot.

Also if it's faulty couldn't you just make a claim with ebay/paypal to get your money back?

HM/PM55 should support 16 GB RAM, though unofficially. My M17x R2 with PM55 chipset does 16 GB RAM, I believe you need a quad core i7 to get that much RAM.

Remember that the ES CPU's are Intel's property and selling them is illegal. Even if you payed for it (through eBay) it's still Intel's property.

Anyway as moral hazard said, I think it would be best to try and get a refund and just buy a normal (non ES) 820QM.
