I currently have the p8400 with 1066mhz FSB. However, the ram supplied is 800mhz. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this bottleneck the FSB to 800mhz? If so would it be possible and beneficial to upgrade to DDR2 1066mhz to utilize my full FSB?

nope, that depends on your northbridge chipset...
You can think of this as:
CPU ===== (1) ===== Northbridge ===== (2) ===== RAMs
The link marked as "2" runs at 800MHz max. This does not depend on your RAM speed. It can only downclock...
For example the speed of link "2" will be 800MHz if your RAMs are DDR2-800 or DDR2-1066. However the speed of link "2" will be 666MHz if you have DDR2-666 or 533MHz if you have DDR2-533.

I see. So "1" would be 1066 mhz then? ARe there any benefits to having a higher "1" speed if the "2" speed slower?
Which would be correct?
"1" 1066mhz "2" 800mhz = "1" 800mhz "2" 800mhz
"1" 1066mhz "2" 800mhz > "1" 800mhz "2" 800mhz -

WELLL you cant get 1066 ddr2 for labtops. Might make em implode.
-
The second one is correct albeit the difference is negligible in real life workloads. The slight difference appears in some synthetic benchmarks... -
umm 'GEORGE', you can get DDR 1066, you can even get DDR3

Even though the chipset supports memory frequencies upto 1066MHz, there are no DDR2-1066 SODIMMs available....for now.

that sucks! i want DDR 1066
upgrade from DDR2 800mhz to DDR2 1066mhz?
