hi,
i recently bought a XPS 1640 laptop with T6600 CPU, i then spotted this T9800 CPU on ebay:
Intel® Core?2 Duo T9800 2.93Ghz SLGEP OEM ,clearance! on eBay (end time 16-Aug-10 13:59:24 BST)
the spec number is SLGEP (E0), which according to this:
List of Intel Core 2 microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
is FCBGA6 socket.
my question is whether this CPU will work in my XPS 1640?
thanks!

Should work fine. Just make sure you have the latest BIOS.
Edit: If it's the one pictured, then it's not BGA, it's PGA. Any socket P thats 800MHz FSB+ should work, including any of the P-series. -

It might be one of those BGA CPUs that are converted to PGA.
But I bet you could find an X9100 for that price (or close to it). -

i did spot this one:
Intel® Core?2 Duo X9100 3.06Ghz OEM SLB48 on eBay (end time 26-Aug-10 22:06:58 BST)
is this a good one or should i look out for a E0 (SLGE7) spec?
people in another thread have mentioned QHBQ - how does this differ from SLGE7?
thanks! -
