I have a Satellite A135-S4527 laptop with dual-core processor and the Intel 945 chipset graphics processor. I use this laptop for wathing movies, occasional web surfing, and games. I have Call of Duty 2, which does not work on this computer. I get a message that DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error and needs to be shut down. I have the most recent version of DirectX, and my display drivers are current.

Is it possible to upgrade my graphics card/processor? I just bought this laptop a couple months ago, and haven't had a problem until now. Is this a relatively cheap and easy upgrade to make?

So.... is there any way to get around my DirectX unrecoverable error? Obviously my fall back plan is to throw the g-ddamn laptop and game out the window and then drive over it.... but is there something I can try before doing that?

Try running Call of Duty 2 in DirectX 7 mode and see if that helps.
