I am going to upgrade my memory. I recently purchased kingston pc2 5300 and it is for 667, however it states on the package 533/667. What does that mean. The specs need for 667. Is the it for 533 specs or 667. I was wondering cause the reps at the store said that it would read the 667 once installed.

Listen to the reps at the store. The RAM runs at 667, downclockable to 533.

The 5300 tells you it can run at 667 and as metioned by Lithus it can downclock if for example it was paired with a PC 4200/533 stick.

would it matter if i just got one that only stated 667 instead of the 533/667 would it have a performance impact to it.

No, it's the same stuff. Technically all 667 can downclock to 533, making all 667 ram 667/533.
