i have a acer aspire model 7715z and i would like to know if it is possible to upgrade my graphics. It says: As you'd expect at this price, graphics are powered by an integrated Intel GMA 4500M processor, so 3D gaming is out.. So is it possible to upgrade the integradet GMA 4500M processor, or integrated means it is impossible? Its just that i need it to play a game i like its dota 2 btw so im not sure before going to a servis i like to ask before here on a forum??? THX

Sorry that laptop you can't upgrade the graphics on. However you can make a vidock for it. There is a very large thread called diy vidock explaining the process and helps with troubleshooting as well

Integrated means part of the motherboard. Unless you want to upgrade your motherboard (and all other interrelated parts/components...) you will not be able to upgrade your graphics card.

Time for a new platform/system (fastest and cheapest way to get a guaranteed performance improvement).

    Good luck.

since you're asking about this, I dont think you're ready to jump into the external GPU stuff (i.e. vidock). But if you start getting into it, then you should know that you need an express card slot in your laptop.

so unless your game is an old one, dont expect to run games on this laptop, especially new 3D ones

and for the graphics upgrade - that's a NO

Unfortunately... as others already mentioned, when laptops arrive with integrated gpu's, then it's next to impossible to replace them with something else as they are integrated into the motherboard.

A possible alternative would mean that the motherboard has an MXM slot in which you can put a compatible gpu, and then reconnect the screen wires to that - though motherboards that have IGP's do not really come with MXM slots, and if they did, buying a mobile gpu which would be compatible would likely be relatively expensive.

3D gaming is not what it's cracked up to be.
In my personal opinion, it's a gimmick, and has a tendency to halve your FPS in games.

In regards to Dota 2, I think your IGP should be sufficient enough to play it.
I realize it's not on par with a low end gpu from Nvidia or AMD, but still...

You have an expresscard slot and 4500MHD iGPU. So could do a ~$200 GTX460-768MB x1.Opt DIY eGPU implementation. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/418851-diy-egpu-experiences.html for details.
