ok i just ordered a dell 1705 with a 7900gs. I have already begun thinking down the road for future upgrades. I don't know 100% but it seemd the dell XPS 1710 is the same platform as the 1705, but with the 7900gtx vid card. being that most nvidia cards are now MXM slot or something, could I swap cards at a later date?

You can get one for like $550 I believe, and you shouldn't have a problem putting one in the E1705, given the fact that they use the same chassis and motherboard layout.

a memrom will be droped in after I up it to 2Gb of ram. but I ordered the 1920 X 1200 resolution screen over the 1440 X 900 screen. eventually I will need to boost the graphics power to compensate. granted the 7900gs isn't bad to start with, but your talking to a guy that had his SLI componets on pre order 2 months before any SLI parts were released a few years ago.

You have to remember that you can probably sell your GS for at least $300 depending on whether you have a single pipe or dual pipe model.

i'll pop it open when I get it and see. or is there any other way to tell? did they put the single pipe in one model and not the other or something?
