I have recently purchased the subject laptop:

Although I am happy with its current configuration of an Intel Core Duo 1.66gHZ CPU, 512meg ram and 80gig HD, I would like to confirm if all three areas could be upgraded by me at a later date. I am concerned that there might be propriety issues with the bios being set to work with that particular CPU only. The manual does detail the removal and repalcement of the CPU as well as the ram and hard drive. I'd assume that providing I used the same pin set for the CPU socket, I should be able to update to a higher speed core duo at a later date. However, from what I have read, manufacturers of laptops are not as supportive for updating laptops as they may be for desktop motherboards.
A poster in another news group suggested that I try and find out the motherboard details and see if the same motherboard is used in a HP model configuration that has a faster CPU. If so, perhaps that motherboard's bios might work for my machine.
Anyone with a late model HP laptop done any of these upgrades themselves?
Thanks

Check your link.It is broken.
Generally the CPU is upgradable as is the RAM, HDD and the DVD/CD drives.
As for upgrading the cpu, yes it should be possible. All currently sold HP laptops are also configurable(in the US) and they do sell higher end Core Duo's on their configurable models. So, there shouldnt be any such BIOS limitations.
