i received a dell studio for xmas with a 1200 x 800 resolution screen. It was bought late November so by the time I got it they wouldn't allow me to return it for an exchange. Is it possible to upgrade the screen itself and has anyone ever done it here? What type of money are you looking at?

I can't speak for the XPS specifically, but the aftermarket screen upgrade for my notebook is nearly $400.

I just checked on ebay, the WSXGA+ Studio 15 screen will run you $500. I'd suggest you pick up an external monitor for 1/4 of that price.

I know this probably works better for older laptops but I've got an inspiron 6400 and just found a parts computer on craigslist for under $100 new(to me) screen, battery just no HD.
