hey everybody, i have a toshiba m60 laptop. it has a pentium M 740, socket 479 with toshiba EBQ10 motherborad for intel i915GMS/i910GML chipset ?
i have had trouble finding a 1GB ddr2 533 MHz so i bought the 667 and installed it along a 512 533MHz one.
my question is, will my motherboard support 2GB memory DIMM and if so, will then the two slots support 4GB or is the maximum allowed is 2GB
(i know that they say that the maximum is 2GB but this is beacuse the 533MHz doesnt have 2GB single DIMM i guess, but is this the case for higher speeds as well)

There are 2GB PC2-4200 modules available.
The 915GM/PM chipset supports 2GB max, 1GB per slot.
You can try out 2GB modules, but there is a 90% chance that, either the BIOS does not support 2GB modules and will not boot, or the 2GB module will be read as a 1GB module by the memory controller. -
If you can find some PC2-4200 sticks cheaper than PC2-6400/PC2-5300, go for it. The 800mhz RAM sticks will downclock to 533mhz regardless, and there will be no performance difference.
upgrading memory from 533 to 800 ? pentium m 740, toshiba m60
