I post this information in two areas I wasn't sure where i should post this. I apologize in advance.
So currently this is what i have using the cpu-z. I am running a travelmate 8103 which came a long with 512 ram, which i upgraded to another 512. I was planning to up grade it to 2x 1gig through newegg. I cant decide what latency to buy.
should i go with :
Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model KVR667D2K2SO/2GR - Retail
cas latency 5
Voltage: 1.8v
or
Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model KHX5300S2LLK2/2G - Retail
Do I really need hyperx?
Latency 4
timing 4-4-4-12
or do i not buy dual channel kit and go with..
Crucial 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory Model CT12864AC667 - OEM
Timing : 5-5-5-12
and what brand should I go with.

Honestly, timings for notebook memory are not going to make much of a difference either way. I have a 2x2GB set of Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC5300/667MHz, with 4-4-4-12 timings, and it's very nice, and I recommend it if you're not extremely strapped for cash.
5-5-5-15 will suit you just fine, realistically. Latency and timings don't matter nearly as much as sheer amount. Either way, you'll be happy. Kingston is an excellent brand of memory.
Also, a dual-channel kit would probably be the best option. It's cheaper than getting two individual DIMMs separately. -
Go for the standard Kingston RAM.

Don't bother wasting money on marketing. Just get the cheaper set, you will not notice any difference in speed.

We are talking about RAM after all so I agree, as long as the memory size is good you should only judge between prices..

Thanks for your input.

get the cheapest stuff. you will not notice any difference in timings.
upgrading ram and need some help
