Well, this seemed like the best place to put this thread so here it goes. This is all hypothetical too. Say I am using a 60in 1080p tv.
If i were to output video from a computer/notebook and had the choices of
Part 1: s-video, vga, composite or other connections of this type.
Part 2: What if i have the choices of hdmi, component or dvi?
I'm not sure about the first set, but I'm pretty sure part 2 would be ranked with hdmi being the best, then component, then dvi.

if you want to output to 1080p, it has to be DVI or HDMI.
If you use DVI, you can use a DVI to HDMI cable
If the system has HDMI out, then use HDMI-HDMI cable.
Its just that simple. -

That post wasn't helpful at all.... I know for a fact component cables can output in 1080p.

I thought you meant with HDCP support.
Well if you dont care for HDCP, then yes, you can use component out.... but thats much more complicated rather than just using DVI. -
VGA would also do it. If you want to output HDCP content, then you need an HDMI port as DVI is not encrypted.
