Here is a good idea:
http://www.intel.com/intel/finance/pricelist/processor_price_list.pdf?iid=InvRel+pricelist_pdf
Just ran across it and thought it was interesting to see. Gotta love the details companies make avail on their investor relations site.

Interesting, but I don't think this belongs in the Notebook Reviews and News section.

wait...
so the T7200 is $294 per 1000 units or $294 per unit?
it doesn't make sense that it's $294 per 1000 units. Am i reading something wrong?
thanks -
no, not 294 for 1000 chips
they mean, when you buy at quantities of 1000, they charge 294 per chip -
In other words...$294,000 for 1000 chips.

The price of T7600 C2D 2.16 GHz is $640 from NewEgg if you just buy one unit. The bulk quantities is $637 per unit. Something is wrong! Granted the price from the link is for December and the price from NewEgg is recent but I doubt NewEgg only makes 3 dollar profit per CPU.
-
same with the T7200... that's what confused me about the data.
That would mean only $4 off per cpu which doesn't sound right at all. -
This is just my wild guess.
Maybe there are "wholesale" bulk pricing & "retail" bulk pricing. what you see in the .PDF pricing are for peoplewants to buy 1000units.
When large corporation buys 1000units they get different pricing you see in the .pdf file
OR
when you buy more units the discount increases with it.
UNLESS that is just how much newegg makes per cpu. $4 per pop
wanna know what Intel charges per 1000 processors?
