Acronis True Image works very well. You'll need a external hard drive though as DVDs, if it will fit, over 2GB require UDF format when burned which the software can't read. Alternatively, you could just burn your data off onto discs and re-install Windows.

Although creating images and just transferring them over to a new drive does work it is, in my opinion, always best to do a fresh install when installing new hardware, especially a harddrive.

If you can, you can just do a drive to drive image transfer. I do not know how to do this, but I will ask my reseller for you as he is installing a new harddrive in my laptop for me because I originally asked for the Western Digital 80gb Scorpio with 8mb cache, but they gave me the 2mb cache version.

I'll ask which program he is using and get back to you. He told me it would be no problem going drive to drive and I'm sure he knows what he's doing or else he wouldn't be so confident in telling me not to worry about the whole transfer as he knows I'm a freak. :D

I'll let you know by tomorrow, cheers,
    Mike
