    hello all,

    i got my 500 gb western digital blue 500 gb disk replaced under RMA and now i am yet to install it in my laptop.

    i would like to know whether i can test it for any error before installation
    ?

    or

    shall i replace this one with Seaget disk?

    help me pls.

    this disk is with me unused for last 3 weeks or so

    If you want to check your hdd for errors you can use the trial version of hdd regenerator to scan for errors only, it runs from cd or flash, but it will take a few hours.

    You might have to set your hdd drive in the bios to ide/compatibility mode before you start the scan

    To test it you will need to install it in the computer. However, you don't need to install an operating system on it. Just pop it in and run the testing tool, Data Lifeguard Diagnostic Tools, from WD's support site.
