Hi, My friend in AZ has a Toshiba laptop A215-S4807. We've been trying to get Skype working between us and it worked yesterday but for some reason today her webcam isn't responding. I can hear her but can't see her. She can see and hear me. She says that her camera is built into the top of her laptop screen. Normally there's a light that comes on when it's active and it's not coming on. Any ideas on how she can get it working again? I tried the Toshiba support site and found the users guide but it's no help as far as the webcam. TIA!

Check in Add/Remove devices to see if the computer is recognizing the device.

If it isn't, I suggest re-installing the needed drivers for the webcam.

If it is, then I suggest the same, re-installing the needed drivers.

After the install, check to see if the webcam is working.

If not, test the Webcam with another webcam active application such as Windows Live Messenger, Etc. If it works with another application, then you will need to troubleshoot a bit with Skype. Try a reinstall of Skype.

If the webcam is not recognized after the driver install and you cannot view the device in Add/Remove devices, it is possible that you have a dead unit.
