Hey all, so i have a problem with my ssd drive - its Silicon Power E20 64GB 2.5" Sata2.
lets start with that i cannot find myself alot of info on the drive or the company itself.
iv searched for firmwares updates to remedy my problem but i cannot find anything.
ok so iv checked the drive with HD sentinel and more tools and find that it looks healthy , thing is the drive acting weird (auto disconnect from system, just disappear, stuck other computers when connecting as external, etc) and doesn't bootup sometimes , im trying to format it but everytime after restart the partition is back (!), yes yes you have not misheard (or read..)
even ata secure erase with parted magic didnt help, partition is back on track with all the problems. when i tried DBAN to wipe it im getting error about bad sectors and it cannot continue.
help is welcome

If SE truly didn't remove a partition - then the drive is throw away (or RMA)...
You could try disabling DIPM to see if it stops 'disconnecting':
See:
AHCI Link Power Management - Enable HIPM and DIPM - Windows 7 Help Forums
Good luck. -
hey, it didnt help.. iv contacted silicon power but no answer (i believe i have 3 years warranty witch didnt expire yet but there is no warranty check on the site so...)
what more can i do?
p.s - more info : Device Model: SPCC Solid State DiskB28
Firmware Version: 111118 -

Hmmm. What didn't help? (What did you do to disable DIPM)?
(Simply merging the reg file doesn't do anything...).
What you may also want to try is to put the notebook in the 'Performance' power plan to see if that helps at all... -
no i know of course after reg file i did go to the power options and changed the settings with the new added lines.
im always putting on performance in all my pcs -

And what did you change the settings to?

tried all combinations iv read at sf, anyhow the disconnections are os-indepent cause it happen in bios and mini-xp etc. wonder what can i do till RMA (if will be one - i hope they will answer soon)

Very unwilling to give any info, huh? (There are about a billion different combinations - doubt you tried them all in the last 15 minutes...
Don't be too sure about 'os-independent' - even if it happens in the BIOS too.
With KB2778344 installed, my ThinkPAD's would show a 2100 Error (BIOS) at power on...
If you're running with XP - then I would highly recommend to install Win8x64 PRO, btw...
Still, this does seem like the drive itself is the issue - hope you get it solved soon. -
first tnx for comments. well i wonder how a windows update files can effect even when not on the os itself (maybe mbr /bios virus? , although those are not common at all), well i have a fairly new setups witch iv tested with them - Acer aspire 5740 and my desktop witch have Asus p8z68 deluxe board
-
UPDATE: im in an RMA process with the company, will report back

Curious to see how this turns out. (Thanks for keeping us updated).
In the meantime, could you give us an overview of how the system/SSD was used (ie. your specific workflow)?
TYIA -
sure, it was used lightly for about 2 months in a desktop machine (i7-920,DFI lanparty board, Gtx560x2,18gb ddr3,samsung f1 500GBx2,Corsair PSU 650w) and then it became like this (no early signs).
used for couple games and normal use on Win7 x64 clean install
there is some interesting info on here with same drives

If your Motherboard's BIOS is updated/current and the PSU and RAM are above suspicion (with no overclocking/monkey business going on) then like the link you provided - it may be best to throw a HDD into that system and upgrade to an SSD on a new/current platform instead.
I've had $20K systems that never worked for more than 2 days continuously - only thing left to do was get a new system/platform (after wasting over a year trying to get that 'super system' going).
If a HDD acts the same way - it is definitely one of the other components (RAM/PSU, etc.) that is affecting your SSD...
I might even try a Windows 8 x64 installation on this platform... couldn't hurt and it will load different/updated drivers too.
Btw, do you really have 18GB RAM or should that be 16GB instead? -
il see if Win8x64 is better with peripherals stablilty . and ya its not 18 i meant 24gb..
weird problem - partition remains intact even after format/secure-erase/low-level etc
