Hi,
Just ordered the following X301:
ThinkPad X301 model 2774-LFG, (13.3 WXGA+ LED (1440x900) TFT, Kamera, Bluetooth, Fingeraftryks læser, Intel Core 2 Processor Duo SU9400, Mobile Intel GS45 Express Chipset, Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD, 128GB SATA Solid State Drive, 4GB Memory (2x 2GB), Ultrathin DVD Burner, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5300AGN, 6-Cell Batteri, Mini-PCIe, WWAN Enabled, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32
I want to buy an external screen as I will be using big spreedsheets and like to have multiple pages at view when working with pdf's and word documents. I would like to buy a screen that have maybe like 1920 x 1080 but I am not sure that the GMA X4500MHD supports it. Can anybody confirm or unconfirm it?
If the x301 doesn't support can I then buy a external docking station with build-in graphics that will make me able to do this?
I was thinking about the Samsung 2333 SW 23". Any thoughts on this monitor?
Thanks a lot.

No problem for X4500, I just don't know if X301 has HDMI (or DVI).
By the way, I think a 24" with 1920*1200 is much better suited for your work, because of the extra vertical space.
1920*1080 is better for movies. -
Thank you for the input.
I believe the x301 has
1 x Display / video - VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)
1 x Display / video - DisplayPort - 20 pin DisplayPort
Good thought about the ratio.
Would a Samsung SyncMaster 2443NW be a good choice? -
Displayport would be the best way to connect it. Either use a DP to DVI, or DP to HDMI cable.
I don't have experience with that specific Samsung LCD, but in general Samsung has a good reputation. It seems like a good choice for a TN panel.
Try finding some reviews maybe.
edit: wait a minute, that Samsung doesn't have a digital input. I would recommend you get a LCD with digital input. Either DVI or HDMI. -
Great, thank you for your input.
I actually didn't know about the new type of port Displayport.
Found this one that seems like a fair choice Samsung Syncmaster 2493HM
Thanks again for input. -
Seems like a great choice. It wins several reviews:

Hello... Dond
Did you field test your x301 video output to a high res. monitor?
I have been trying to learn more about intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD card (max external display supported: 2048X1536).
Unfortunately, it seems Mac's decision to use NVIDIA's GeForce 9400M card (max. extrenal display supported: 2560x1600) gave them the upper hand in solving our video output issues. I say unfortuate b/c I want to be loyal to the thinkpad line.
Anyways....
I have been thinking about using an x301 with a 26" 1920x1200 using the Display port converted to a HDMI cable.
I really like Samsung's TOC series with digital tuners... a 26" goes for <$400 and should make for a nice external monitor and a digital TV:
