    what is DVI output??

    i bought my first laptop and it has dvi output, which a review said was a good thing for a laptop. i was wondering what dvi output is

    Its a video out (to connect to a seperate monitor). there are 2 kinds of ports, DVI is the better of the 2 because it sends a digital signal, instead of an analog signal that the other one sends. Im having a brain fart now and cant remember what its called. So because the DVI ports sends digital signals, its screen quality is alot better than the analog one. DVI ports are rare on notebooks, usually 17' and up. They are a really good thing to have if you plan on using a seperate monitor.

    OH, ok thanks, i really dont have much use for that. but i guess its good to have. does it only attach to comp moniters, or to tvs as well?

    Loads of DVI info. There are 2 kinds of video ports: VGA and DVI. DVI is better for LCD screens and high end projectors. VGA (the other port) is analogue, which is bad for digital screens, but good for CRTs.
