    what is the difference in ram

    i want to order new ram but not sure which one to get,4200 @533 or 5300 @667,what is the difference as far as speed and will i notice the difference.

    The difference is that the 667 operates on a faster bus speed compared to the 533 (667mhz as opposed to 533mhz). But however the 667 has higher Latency than the 533 RAM, so basically the speed difference is cancelled out (untill 667 RAM with faster timings can be produced), and some people have noted that the 533 is a little bit faster. But the reality is that you will not notice any difference in spped. Go for the one that's cheaper

    thanks man that helps alot,i found both on ebay and of course the 667 is 10.00 higher,i had the 533 on my sony and now that i have the dell it has 2-512's at 667 but i wanted 2- 1 gigs to run at 667 but if there is no diff i will probably buy the 2- 1 gigs at 533.thanks for the info

    What are the specifications of your laptop? DDR2-533 vs. DDR2-667 - there is no difference in performance.

    it came with 2 512- 667 chips from factory and just wanted to know if im selling myself short if i buy 2 -1 gig 533 chips vs. 2-1 gig 667 chips.

    There is a 3%-4% improvement between 553 and 667 but really not worth worrying over. Do shop around, I was able to get 2gb of 667 for $10 less than the 533 because of a sale.
