t9300/t9500 will work, and maybe even the x9000 will work in your system. It depends on what the Bios of your laptop supports. I am almost 100% sure you can upgrade to any socket P 800Mhz FSB processor from the T7xxx, T8xxx and T9xxx series. The extreme processors may work, but that depends on if the Bios supports it.
Hp will tell you that the processor is not upgradeable, cause thats what the techs are paid to tell the consumer. It is possible to upgrade the processor. It may void the warranty cause it involves taking the system apart, but I am not sure, you should check hp's warranty papers.

The T7500 you have is pretty fast at 2.2Ghz, so the only processor which may be worth while to upgrade to is the T9500.

I'm thinking x-9000 .why would bios not support it ?what about the 1033 or 1066 fsb cpu , no go with those ?they don't go to lower fsb like mem ?

How do you know your CPU has a socket? Many laptops have the CPU soldered to the mainboard and are not upgradable. How do you know your BIOS will support your new CPU?

You have some homework to do before you pick up a screwdriver. As to the warranty, as soon as you open the chassis, you have no more warranty. YOU are your own warranty at that point i.e. if you break it, you get the keep the pieces.

Almoost every laptop processor has a socket these days. The only processors actually soldered to the motherboard are ULV processors, such as the ones from VIA, Intel and AMD. Your system has an upgradeable cpu, so you can upgrade the processor.

Your system chipset will not support the latest monteveina line of processors so you are limited to a maximum front side bus (FSB) of 800MHz

the cpu in your 8510p is a drop in, I am 100% sure the t9300 will drop right in and work you may have to update your bios on the hp site tho, the t9500 might work not 100% positive on that tho, they do sell the 8710w with a t9500 in them so im guessing that the bios might be the same for 8510p as the 8710w and t9500 will work also, I upgraded my 8710p from a t7500 to a t9300 no problem and updated my bios anyways to make sure since there was new bios from after the t7xxx series has been out. Hp buisness models are not sold with extreme series chips so i assume that they are not supported by the bios idk. I will say that the upgrade from t7500 to t9300 was well worth it my 8710p is much cooler and hardly ever hear the fan now, with the t7500 it used to sound like a f-16 preparing for takeoff at times. Go for the t9300, t9500 is overpriced and a uneccesary risk if it's not supported, you have a much cooler and more powerful lappy. throw in some arctic silver 5 to help ice up the situation

correction, they used to not sell them with extreme chips the new 8x30's are available with extremes. the swap for me was easy, everything was easily accessable should be the same for you, you'll probably need a torx t-8 bit tho to disassemble thats about it, 45nm definate upgrade from 65nm

Maybe - keep in mind that the X9000 gives off more heat than any T-series notebook CPU, so your cooling system may not be able to handle the increase.

call hp and ask them if the bios will support a x9000 chip, i think thats a safer route than finding out the hard way, I dont think anyone other than hp will know 100% that it will work. It may turn you laptop into a blast furnace tho, go the safer route with a t9300 or a t9500 more power cooler temps

hp is going to straight out tell you that notebook processors are not upgradeable. They tell the consumer this so that we dont go taking our laptops apart.
The x9000 may work, but we are not sure. The best bet is to either get the fastest T9xxx series processor and know that it will work, or buy the X9000 from a store which doesnt have a restocking fee, incase it doesnt work.

    good luck,
let us know what you are going to do
