i read that its suggested to switch power plan to high performance and 'hard disk settings' to 'turn off hard disk after:never'.
if i also have a secondary hdd would this still be a good idea if i do use my laptop on battery sometimes? will it also lead to faster degradation of the hdd's platters/mechanism since it wont spin down?

Spin down setting aka turn off hard disk after doesn't apply to SSD iirc.

And, I believe it actually hurt the harddisk more if spin down/up alot instead of keeping it constantly spinning, but it is not significant enough to worry about.

From optimization guides I've read, they suggest not turning off hard disk in settings as it keeps gc in the ssd active during idle periods, so to them it does have an effect. I wonder what others think.
Good point on hdd. It might more be a battery thing.
