It`s 1920x1080 16:9, although a lot of screens are 1920x1200 16:10

1080p is 1920x1080. Simple as that.
****p always refers the to the vertical resolution. -

1080P could also be 1920x1080 or 1440x1080...etc. 1080P is any resolution with verticle pixle resolution of 1080.

When you are talking about 1080p, or 720p, you are usually referring to TV resolutions. They are supposed to be a 'standard' and not just a made-up term applied whenever you like.
There is no point in describing a 1080x1200 monitor as 1200p, because there is really no such video standard as 1200p. It doesnt exist, it is a made-up term. It should still be described as 1080p-capable, or better yet, just describe it properly as WUXGA. -

Seriously, though, you're right. They've already got 900p, aka 1600x900, which is totally made up. I challenge you to find me an actual HDTV with that resolution.
To answer the OP's question in no uncertain terms, 1080p, in terms of laptop and HDTV display resolution, is 1920x1080. -

i took your challenge. do I get a prize??

Touché, sir.
Although there's really nothing that uses that resolution. HDTV signals are either 720 or 1080p, as are Blu-Ray and HD movies. -
