what type of RAM for ENVY 6 SLEEKBOOK?

I have SLEEKBOOK 6 1126ea
with A6 processor and 4gb of ram.

I want to upgrade RAM memory by buying from HP PartSurfer.

Can someone tell me what type of RAM i need to purchase???? (for my 8gb ram config, preferably in 4x2GB config)

P.S- DON'T TELL ME to enter the serial number or product number in to the HP PartSurfer so It can suggest the parts!! BECAUSE the web site DOES NOT RECOGNISE MY MODEL ANYWHERE!

 

Well, you'll definitely be looking at DDR3 memory, as DDR2 and DDR are outdated and are not used anymore. Out of that, I'd look for 1600MHz memory as that's the memory speed that your laptop shipped with.

It's much cheaper to buy the memory yourself aftermarket on websites like Amazon, Newegg, TigerDirect, etc, than it is from the OEM (pretty large profit padding). How much RAM do you want total?

 

Pretty much any DDR3(L)-1333 2x8GB RAM kit will work in the AMD Sleekbook. 1600 is included from HP but the A6 APU is what's actually limiting you to 1333 1.35V/1.5V. At least its dual channel capable. I dont think ULV/LV Trinity has ever gone above 1333 RAM.

32GB should be doable too but im not sure those (16GB) modules even exist.

I want 8GB Ram.

The question is... 1x8gb or 2x4gb

I heard some stories of dual channel problems with booting and some programs incompatibility.

Mine was shipped with a single 4GB SODIMM Samsung 667MHz stick.
So I am afraid to put dual channel since HP decided going with one stick initially.
