The graphics card in your laptop is a nVidia geforce go 7200. That card is a chipset based graphics card. Meaning that the graphics card is soldered directly to the mainboard. That means the graphics card is not upgradeable.
Since your system is based on the AMD Turion platform, you will be able to upgrade to 2Gb (2 x 1GB) of PC5300 memory.
I do not see why you could not try and upgrade to 4Gb (2 x 2Gb) of memory.
It should work for you as long as HP did not install a Bios limitation for the memory addressing if your system

If you can find a motherboard from a dv6500z with an 8400m gs you could swap it in and it would work. Your laptop can do 4gb of ram with a 64bit OS
