Okay I got a friend whos about to order a laptop and he asked me for my opinions.
Theres two cpus hes looking at the 2630qm vs the 2760qm. which is 2.0ghz vs 2.4ghz the difference in adding is about $250. He has the same ssd as me which is the samsung but he wants to upgrade to a bigger ssd.
So he does gaming like hon,lol,sc2,arkham city, css skyrim, etc.. and i told him the fps difference is like 10fps give or take. But was wondering which would be a better idea to get the 2630qm and a 256gb samsung 830 ssd or the 2760qm and keep the ssd he has. which would you guys get?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
EDIT: Misread the post... I don't think either upgrade is worthwhile (unless he needs the extra storage space of the 256GB 830). Put the $250 towards a future notebook.

the better CPU and the 470 samsung that he already has, as it's such a nice unit anyways.
if he needs more space then he could upgrade the SSD at later time for much cheaper. CPU upgrade on the other hand will be more time consuming, if possible.
on the other hand the 2630 CPU is good enough so why not just save the $250 for something else -
I'd go for the better CPU, but I wouldn't pay that much for the upgrade.

alright thanks for the input it seems like the 2630qm wins by default i think it would be worth an upgrade if it was like 100-150. alright ill tell him to go with that cpu and keep his current ssd and if later on he needs space he'll have moneys for the ssd.
thanks guys

as mentioned above it would be best to save the money really but if he just wants to burn some cash i would suggest the cpu upgrade mainly because of three points:
-ive seen posts by guys like vicious saying that you will see very little gains in load times with an ssd
-cpu intensive console games like some you mentioned above can benefit from a fast cpu
-it will be much harder to sell your old cpu and upgrade down the road than it is with an ssd. so it better to get the one you want to begin with. -
Well he could get a better CPu and buy an extra drive.... fast boots with some storage
However if I was in this situation,i would save the cash
what would you go for better cpu or ssd?
