    is there a solid date? anyone already offering preorders? I got 3 days of leave for labor day and I want to give my notebook a makeover with a new processor, a 7900gtx, and 2gb of ram. :D

    only a few vendors are selling it. I purchased a notebook with merom yesterday at:

    Now, one caveat: You mentioned giving your notebook a makeover. I am assuming that it is a yonah based notebook which means that you are looking for the actual individual merom processor on sale instead of preinstalled. That's going to be even harder right now.

    Merom will not be available until the end of August at retail. OEM will have them earlier.
