I have a Dell E1505 (See specs in sig) and recently my battery has ben sucking. For example, right now im using firefox and listen to a podcast and battery life is at 72% with 1hr 5 min remaining. This is the 9-cell battery and i used to get around 3-4 hours with 70 percent. Im running Vista Ultimate with 1gb ram. THanks

There has been problems with some notebooks with abnormal battery wear. This can sometimes be fixed by disabling all the low battery alarms and action and then running the computer on battery until it stops. Recharge and repeat.

I just want to advise something here :
When the battery dies and the pc shuts down, put it aside for a couple of hours. It's amazing what efect can the battery cooling have, especially when wear level is so high. To make it simple, just leave it aside for a couple of hours untill it goes completely out of charge and goes cold.
Just follow my advice and you will be happy with the results.

Give us some feedback when you do it, just so that I know if it worked :)

    Take care.

How old is this battery? How many times do you think you have used it on battery. that could explain!

If it's less than a year old you should be able to get it replaced by Dell. I believe they have a one-year battery warranty on their systems.

Good info! I was looking at sig and everything said older except Vista, single core+512MB RAM so I figured Dell did not provide Vista. My 2nd angle is batts are rated for 300 to 1000 cycles and that along with age could explaine a lot. I do hope under warranty but if not, not all that strange of results maybe, original poster post back and let us know.
