hi, im choosing a new laptop, im not a 100% game player but also want to play some old games. so which CPU should i choose? i think i have 2 questions:

    1. is there extrem difference between Inter Core 2 Duo T5xxx serier. for example the different performance of T51xx and T59xx.

    2. if i choose AMD cpu, which is closed with Inter T5xxx? and which is better?

    thanks! :)

Firstly, the company making the Core CPUs is spelled Intel, not Inter.

Secondly, I do not believe Intel has released a Core2Duo CPU with a processor id that starts with T51 or T59. The CPUs that start with the letters T5 range from the 1.6Ghz T5200 to the 1.8Ghz T5600.

    1. Obviously, as one would instinctively guess, a CPU with a lower id number is lower clocked and therefore not as fast a CPU with a higher id number. However, Intel's CPU numbering can be dodgy, so it is best to post specifically which CPUs you care comparing.

    2. Currently AMD does not have a mobile processor that can beat the performance of the top of the range Intel Core2Duo Meroms. As the T5xxx is a wide range of CPUs, it is difficult to state which AMD Turion Trinidad CPU is a match. It is best if you post specifically which CPUs you are looking at.

Budding is correct, there is no such thing as a T51xx or a T59xx.

You can get a general idea of the relative performance of various mobile processors from the Dual/Multi Core Notebook CPU Speed thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=123570

Near the bottom of the chart you can see that a TK-53 is approximately comparable to a T5600 and that a TL-50 is approximately comparable to a T5200. I say approximately as your mileage will vary.

In general, if you choose AMD processor, make sure you get TL series as it's a refreshed version so that it offers slightly better heat management. The AMD Turion X2 TL-58 which is 1.9GHz is a sweet spot and it can be compared to the Core2Duo 1.6GHz-1.8GHz for rough comparison.

    and what about:
    Turion 64 X2 TL-56 2x 1.80GHz vs Core 2 Duo T5270 2x 1.40GHz
    :)

About the same. But the TL-56 uses more power and creates more heat so less batt life. So I would go C2D unless IGP and AMD is better. Intel X3100 is good but below that AMD.

Since we are comparing AMD and Intel CPUs

I was wondering why does my score in wPrime beat a T7700??
A member said that TL series is quite good but I need a deeper explanation.

The other thread said it was faster superior to the Core2 Duo there was nothing in there that mentioned that it was inferior.
