which one do you think guys ? im new to SSD i am going to optimize them as well

Neither. Get the OCZ Vertex - the 60Gb model was $169.99 on newegg.com after rebate, last I checked. eCost sells the same, at $179.99 or something.

Only drives you should even consider are ones with Samsung, Indilinx, or Intel's controllers.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Well, what exactly are you looking for? The fastest of the fast? A relatively good value? Highest capacity?
-
good value and fast .... the apex on there looked pretty good but i liked the vertex for 209 with a 40 dollar rebate
something under 170 thanks -

You might want to consider a 64GB Samsung SLC or a 32GB Mtron SLC, but with the $40 rebate, the 60GB Vertex is probably your best bet. Even in the off chance that it has some fatal flaw, you're not out by much. You should definitely stay away from the Apex since it's both a power hog and a poor IO performer based on dual JMicron flash controllers and a single JMicron RAID controller.

mehh 200 is alot for me but vertex are slc right?

Vertex is MLC. The only practical SLC drives on Newegg are certain Samsung drives and various flavors of X25-E. If you want something cheaper than $200, there is a 30GB variant of the Vertex that goes for about $100; maybe less with an MIR, but for the most part, I'd say $200 is about the minimum you have to spend for a quality SSD these days (unless you get really lucky).
-
ok well thanks im proable gonna miss the vertex on sale since its out of stock ..... im not sure what imma do
-
Seriously don't go with either of those two, Jmicron controllers have issues, Intel, Vertex or Ultradrive ME are the only ones I'd consider.
here's ultradrive ME http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609393 same controller as vertex. $175 after MIR -
ok guys so here are the choices

i looked at samsungs SLC but the speeds are no as high as others...there fast but meh there built to last ... any way advice here
what do yall think? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Vertex 30GB hands down. The other three are basically the same JMicron-based drive. The OCZ Core should be the best of those other three, but saying that is like saying its the worst of three evils. You should not even consider any of the other three.
-
but they look so good!!!!!! lol .... my only gripe is the small size but it should be about 2.5 times faster then what i have now what u think?
btw whats windows 7 install size ? 10 gigs right? -
Dude you miss my post? ultradrive ME http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820609393 this should perform identically to vertex for under $200 (though I admit MIRs suck) 60gb.

vertex 30 gig
it is since its cheaper and will not be great a long time lol thanks all -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?

Samsung 64GB SLC for ~$180-200? Despite lower sequential speed, performance difference is not noticeable due to hardly ever utilizing that value. Randoms are more important and SLC is also proven to be better than traditional HDs, the verdict on MLC is still up in the air.

Posting here, as I posted this elsewhere in a discussion with Mr Moo, but felt it was worth adding to this thread...
