I think the Celeron M 560 is better. Mainly, because it can be probably upgraded to a better CPU --> T8100 etc. (Efficiency + Performance)

What kind of laptop offers both an atom (for netbooks) and a celeron option?

For performance, the Celeron by far.

For battery life and less heat/noise, the Atom by far.

The Atom is very weak. The new processor from VIA is much faster, and uses less power. I think its called the Issahia, or something like that.
The Celeron is a mcuh better choice, because of its upgradeability. You should be able to upgrade to a much faster core 2 duo processor, which will blow away the Celeron and the Atom.

Is odd question as some seem to indicate already.

What will you be using this notebook for? K-T's truck (Peterbilt?) is better for moving loads. My subcompact would be better for prom in most cases. Ok sorry I compared K-T's truck to a Celeron. But get the jist?

dont be dissin my truck, nobody messes with a CAT and wins ;)

PP is right, if you are only using the system for say word, internet and email, than an atom would be fine, but if you are looking to do more power demanding apps than get the celeron based system, cause you can upgrade it.
