I have obtained a second hand cpu for my HP NX6325 laptop.
The cpu in the laptop at the moment is a Sempron 3400+ 1.8ghz
The second hand cpu is a Turion 64 MK36.
Which is the fastest chip please?
Also will the turion 64 x2 cpus work in this laptop?

i think the turion mk36 would be the better one. and yes turion x2 will work

One thing, the Turion 64 MK36 is NOT a dual core processor, it is NOT a Turion 64 X2 processor. REPEAT, this is NOT DUAL CORE, it is a SINGLE core.
Despite this, however, the Turion seems better...a faster clock speed (2.0 GHz compared to 1.8 GHz), and the L2 Cache is upped in the Turion, from 256 KB to 512 KB.
I don't know thoug, I'm not an AMD guy, I'm an intel proabout them working/fitting/being interchangeable, I have NO clue if it'll actually WORK, but if it does, then yes, the Turion is defineately better.
Can you change the processor? Some times it's tough. -
The 3000+ was made for several sockets, so with out more info can not advise. L2 is 128KB's. I would not even consider what you are. Both are dogs, I would buy a new cheap lappie.

I have fitted the 2.0ghz chip.
it would be nice to know thou if I could fitt an turion x2 and up to what speed.
The nx6325 laptop is not very old and easy to work on upgrading memory and for cleaning fans etc.
The video card not that bad. upgrading to a new laptop would be alot more expensive then changing the cpu.
